We developed a workshop based on the aquilo method of strengths based people development. The workshop ensured the selected senior leaders had themselves been through the process of being individually coached and developed in this manner. Additionally, it provided the leaders the opportunity to learn and practice how to develop and motivate their direct reports using the aquilo technique.

During the workshop, aquilo supported the leaders in designing the implementation strategy of this method within their organization.

 

RESULT

4 months after the workshop, our client has implemented this method with 12 mid-level managers. The outcome is significant improvement in:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

Our client, a small healthcare company, produces and markets products in niche markets. aquilo were asked to provide a holistic view on the launch and roll-out strategy for a new product.

ACTIONS

Firstly, we spent time at our client’s head office receiving thorough product training, understanding the launch strategy and talking to key members of the team. We then spent a number of days in the field interviewing patients and customers to get a clear, unbiased understanding of the perception of our client, its staff and the product.

 

RESULT

We provided an in-depth analysis of our thoughts on the current strategy and produced customer need driven, easy to action recommendations on how to make the launch as successful as possible. Additionally, we challenged the financials of the launch strategy and provided alternative views.

STRATEGIC M&A:

Our client, a private equity firm, was looking for M&A candidates for one of its healthcare portfolio companies. aquilo conducted top level due diligence to produce a list of attractive and realistic merger targets for one of their portfolio companies. For each of these potential targets it was necessary to fully understand its specialist technologies, financial situation and position within the market.

ACTIONS

aquilo worked closely with both the private equity client and its healthcare portfolio company to ensure all required information was collected and all goals were met.

The process began by interviewing the healthcare company management to gain a clear understanding of their business focus, ambition and M&A direction. From this basis we screened hundreds of companies to create a shortlist of 50. For each of these potential targets we conducted in-depth analysis to create an overview of product, performance, market position and strategic fit.

 

RESULT

Our client selected 15 of our short-listed targets to look at in more detail. Subsequently, aquilo has been asked to facilitate contact with one of the target companies and participate in further due diligence.

HEALTHCARE PROFFESSIONAL TRAINING:

Our client, a hospital, looking to increase the number of patients choosing their service.

After observing many of the doctors during interactions with patients, we implemented changes to their engagement methods. Working with our client we designed a new patient communication strategy. We conducted both group and one-to-one coaching with the doctors to show them how to increase the likelihood of a patient choosing their services.

 

RESULT

Patient feedback on the new communication strategy was overwhelmingly positive. Doctors significantly increased the number of patients who choose them as service providers.

SOLVING HOSPITAL CHALLENGES:

Our client, a hospital providing surgical services within a specialist market. In a tough market environment, our client asked us to help them increase the number of patients choosing their service.

ACTIONS

Initially, aquilo spent time observing and analyzing the systems and processes of our client’s business. That analysis led to aquilo implementing a multi-faceted digital marketing strategy and sales staff training.

 

RESULT

The hands-on implementation of strategies produced a sustained increase in patient enquiries. The ongoing coaching for our client’s staff resulted in the number of patient enquiries ending up in surgeon consultation increase from 50% (pre-coaching) to 90%.
